LIFE LESSONS FROM 2013

This beautiful year is about to come to a close, this is my last year as a 20 something year old too. Ten years of being in the beautiful twenties has come and gone, it was the decade of being a young adult, meeting new friends, learning about life and also yearning for positive growth, now it is time to step it up into the next decade of self fulfillment, career and family. Whew!!!!
I am thankful to God for my life so far and the new things beyond coming soon.
What have I learned so far.
1. I am my own best friend. I fight my battles and I pray.
2. Failure is a sign that I have tried.
3. Looking beyond my nose to new adventures and taking risks worth it, it has paid off.
4. Retiring from a constant party scene is awesome I have replaced that habit with traveling. I went to two different states in 2013. I hope to do more than two next year. Bring it on.
5. Self love is the best love.
6. In relationships always be sure that the other person feels the same way, it is no use feeding a person that bites the hand.
7. Trust God always he listens
8. Splurging on yourself is the best thing you can ever do, go ahead do it, you only live once
9  grab every opportunity that comes your way.
10. It is good to always have your friends back but protect yourself first.
11 People prove themselves if a person chooses to walk away let them go they did you an awesome favor
12. Meeting new people is not a bad idea, the experience is priceless

HOUSEWIFE OF THE BAY.

I have been thinking of the new hair color identity for weeks, debating on either midnight blue or burgundy, the answe came when I was watching "the real housewives of Atlanta" and I saw Kandi's hair, I said to myself that is the color, of course my hair is not as red as hers and I decided to kill the bore by adding black to the bottom, my own style.so I am slowly pulling in my transition to red hair by starting out ombré , I hope to be creative with the rest of my hairstyles in the next decade. What do you think?

THANKSGIVING.WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR!!

Its so funny how we always think about things that we are thankful for every year during Thanksgiving, we all survive little mishaps everyday here and there, we tend to overlook the little things that matter and think about it on the third Thursday of November. While some things are in our memory temporarily, i tend to always recount that afternoon at my house all by myself trying to put out grease fire, the smoke, i wasn't sure i was going to make it out alive, after putting out the fire, i was still unaware that my house was still burning inside the structure, i had lunch with family and we all took naps six hours later smoke started coming out from the walls, that was when i had to call 911,the firefighters told us that if we had gone to bed that night, we would not have made it out alive, Carbon monoxide poisoning. Those words still ring in my ears till today "YOU ARE SOME REAL LUCKY FOLKS, IF YOU HAD GONE TO BED YOU WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT OUT ALIVE"
Fast forward exactly seven months today, looking at my Thanksgiving meal and back at the mental distress it caused me, living in two different hotels temporarily for a month while the house was being repaired, i have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, to be alive to celebrate another Thanksgiving, this year started with some folks that didn't make it this far? So what are you thankful for?
On the other hand let me share my thanksgiving meal with you
Happy Thanksgiving

HAIR PRODUCT REVIEW: JOICO KPAK COLOR THERAPY SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

So right now I am in my late twenties identity crisis. Getting ready to start a new decade next  year by God's grace so my image is going to have to change. Number one is my weight loss i actually meant Weight loss the first time, and then next to change is my hair color, i started looking for a signature hair color either midnight blue or black cherry. So far , i tried the black cherry look , even though i like it , it is pretty hard to maintain. The loss of pigment in hair makes hair a lot harder to manage in terms of texture but i decided to give this product a try.

Joico Kpak Color Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner, to the average person may be relatively pricey but it is worth it. It is a good therapy duo for color treated hair as the name implies, it works excellently to restore hair that has been damaged from color treatment such as hair pigment removal otherwise known as bleaching or hair color damage bringing limp looking hair back to vibrant looking hair. It also smells very good, after putting Adore Bordeaux Color 94 in my hair and sitting under the dryer for forty five minutes, I washed the dye out with the Color Therapy Shampoo and put the conditioner in my hair for about five minutes and rinsed it off, my hair never felt so good.

You can buy it here to try it if you have colored hair that is beyond manageable, it helps with breakage and dryness, you wont regret it.

HEY DADDY!!

Its my dad's birthday today coincidentally as i write this post. Happy Birthday Daddy!!! Oops Dad.

"Hey Daddy" i thought it was just a song. Yeah Usher in the lyrics is letting his woman know that "Daddy"  is home. Apart from watching a very visually interesting video, it seems to be a lot of women's reality. Sisqo also came up with a song about a decade ago talking about "Who is your daddy?" So what's up with girlfriends, these days calling their "boyfriends" not "husbands" the word "DADDY". There is even a Facebook page for women who call their man "Daddy"
Well i cannot fathom calling my man "daddy" though not yet!!!  . I mean it is a personal thing for different people. I just find it awkward to call my man a name i have been calling my father for so many years, i believe he alone should have that title. Some women love to call their man  "daddy" and some men being called "Daddy" But Why?

I see it as some role play, ego stroking concept. In the bedroom, some women give the man full charge by letting him play the role of "Daddy". Yeah he had better be a daddy by making a baby, not just the fun of it. Some lady claimed that she felt protected and loved when she called her man "daddy" and a man in return feels like he is in charge. Oh well (yawn), The words babe, honey, sugar, darling, dear are not yet obsolete, i can still pick one of those to endear my spouse. So in other words to most people, the word "Daddy" is powerful, it puts a man in control and makes him King, it is also a form of endearment.

Anyway i would like to let my future husband know that i wont be calling him "Daddy" unless he starts fathering my kids, maybe i will add my child's name stripper name to it. If we decide to role play in the bedroom, we can think of other freaky names to call each other for example Barack Obama.  Well Barack is the King of the castle and the president, hmm he has another two years in office, okay i need to think about that one.
See this blog post made me call my father (dad), Daddy!!!
What are your thoughts? Would you call your man  Daddy?

COMMONLY MISUSED WORDS

Before the advent of Facebook and other social networks I believe people wrote spoken English correctly. It was so much fun to read back then due to the excitement of learning new words and reading people's ideas and stories. I would assume that as we got older and from our reading experiences we would be better writers. Most people gained that knowledge during their learning process but these children born after 911, I swear they freak me out with their writing.
Text messaging is just a way of having basic conversation with people when you don't have the opportunity to speak over the phone. It also goes to show how people construct sentences. Apart from typos, i have read text messages that would make one want to end the conversation right there, and i have a lot of pet peeves.Somehow i am also not surprised why people fail written English. Text messaging has made it worse, all these abbreviations. LOL! OMG !LMFAO! CTCU!
I mean i am not exempt but i can at least write out the words in a sentence. And when did Okay become 'K'.

This one is my first pet peeve, How hard is it to distinguish between two, to and too? What makes it worse is that even with auto correct on many technological devices, it is still written wrong in a sentence. Two is a number and that should separate it from Too and to. Oh my goodness.

I call this one an unforgivable sin. Your and You are not the same. Your( possessive) You are ( a pronoun and a verb). And the pretty girl in the picture below just blew it.

The same goes for "they are" and "their"

After seeing these memes, it makes me wonder if the people who actually type or write these words ever went to grade school. How did they pass a class? Do we not need these simple reading and writing skills to construct sentences when we talk. I was having a reading session with someone once and i realized that she could not read some words but in a conversation she would say it correctly. I do not understand how that works sometimes, and i still can;t get over how she struggled to say the word while reading it.

Lose and Loose is another biggie for me.
"I want to loose weight" (error) when the correct one is "i want to lose weight". They do not even sound the same.

Know and No
"Do you no that there is no sugar?" Really.

"Me two!" Waoh

Then and than
"Other then that, i believe i am done with my work"... I know the sentence was not written with an accent.

Please add more commonly misused words.

SEX AFTER HOW MANY DATES PLEASE?

There is a disclaimer on this post. This post only applies to sexually active people who are not married. It does not in any way apply to celibates or virgins so in terms of giving opinions, speak from the stance of a sexually active person in a relationship. Please i love Jesus as much as you do, do not bring any Christian mother talk into this.

There is this in my own opinion "urban legend" that having sex on the first date makes you a slut or a hoe and it is good to wait a few months to get respect and get to know each other. In the African society especially when i was growing up, it was very shameful to hear a story of a young girl engaging in sexual activity with any boy especially when they were not married. It was so easy to throw stones and make up stories of other worse things the girl would have done with the guy so as to look innocent or perfect. At 15, some girls in my class did worse things than "escorts". It doesn't make them bad people after all sex is supposed to be an enjoyable activity but hypocrisy makes it seem really bad.I wish i had evidence to prove it but lets leave it at that.
Lets look at a case scenario, Thomas and Ada met at a house party, they get to sit down, chill and talk somewhere, after a couple of drinks Ada gets tipsy, she likes Thomas, they get closer, they end up at their house (Thomas or Ada) and have sex. Today they are married with two kids and a happy home, on the other hand Titi and Kevin met in the library during a study session, they study more and "study" each other more at Kevin's house. The next day Kevin does not return her text messages or her phone call so what happened.
The common ground here is that in both scenarios each couple had sex on the first meeting so why was Ada lucky enough to get married to Thomas and Titi losing Kevin.
For one Ada and Titi are not hoes/sluts. They just happened to be in a situation. A situation may be good or bad depending what is involved. When Ada had sex with Thomas, there was no indication of her becoming his wife, it just happened, and the same happened for Titi.
In Ada's case the sex was probably good, she had great chemistry on all levels with Thomas and maybe Thomas was ready to settle down at that point and Ada seemed the right person for him. Titi was just a one night stand who happened to be 'studied' by Kevin. Titi allowed her self to be in the situation. The act was consensual but if she expected anything more after the act that would have been her mistake.

1. If Thomas and Ada may have dated a few months, they may have broken up after having sex, the reason being that Ada may have decided to make Thomas wait, and he will just for sex, he would do everything to get some and after that he would be long gone. The factors that would come to play would be the timing and his frame of mind. Men do not associate sex with love the way we women do. Titi might have felt that Kevin liked her on a higher level to have sex with her. That is some dumb thinking right there. Men can have sex with anyone they like, it is just an act, lovemaking is for that special one associated with feelings. If Titi and Kevin had waited a little longer, maybe Kevin may have had feelings for her and not left her but again...

2. After waiting several months to have sex because of looking decent, your ass may still get dumped, its not about quantity, it is about quality. The time factor is a great yardstick, it brings out personality, who the person really is. Some men cant deal with drama or certain baggage. Men already know what they want and you could either be a bride or a loss and as a loss they will make profit from sex and walk away. It always happens and women do the same. It is a game.

3. Kevin might have wanted to be in a real relationship with Titi but after easily falling prey of having sex with him the first time, Kevin might have thought she did so with other men on the first date. If Thomas had decided to hold off from Ada, he might have not wanted to look like he was only after having sex with her,in situations like this it is always best to let the other person know whats up. There is nothing as bad as planting corn and expecting an apple tree. Planting seeds of intimacy would yield the expectation of a relationship that may never exist.

4. The only "Hell No" i can think of when it comes to having random sex on the first date is the person's sexual history. You do not know where they have been, where their partners have been, what kind of sexually transmitted disease they may be carrying, what kind of people would they be open to sleeping with. If they can trust to have sex with you when they do not know your sexual history, they can do it to anyone else and that would make me pull a "red card".

5. In other words, whether it is the first day or six months later or the wedding night, it doesn't matter when you have sex,if you are getting dumped it would happen for sure. Getting married and having safe sex is the best but now i have another question.. What if your partner is not good in bed?

VHS Lagos Big Girls ... The reality of this joke

I was watching this video and cracked up so hard. I love the way the young lady took a tour of the house with the man and also wanted things in a different specifics, these were things that she herself did not have and possibly not afford, after calling his bluff with her British accent, she switched up her accent and started speaking pidgin English right after she left his mansion to her friend. "No pour sand inside my garri"
Is this the trend of finding love these days? He told her he had money, she told him to "work harder".
How much money should a man have to court a girl? What kind of car should he drive? Must he have an oil bloc?  Do these standards bring about a good marriage? Has character and true love flown out of the window? After watching young ladies of this generation wear Brazilian, Peruvian and other foreign hair, flaunting Louis Vuitton and Michel Kors purses and wearing Manolo Blanihk and Christian Louboutin red bottoms using the most expensive handsets and probably form the trend of driving Panameras and Teslas in the near future,it makes me realize how shallow some women are. In a few decades these things will fade away and the reality of the character will set in.
So what pieces make the puzzle complete, what is the true definition of a potential husband? I need answers because this may be a reality check to up my standards or settle for what will last forever.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF ARGAN OIL

In the last few years, the demand for some sort of oil suddenly increased, the oil is supposed to be the next best thing after Brazilian hair, all hair product brands have added the oil to their brand, its not coconut oil, carrot oil, castor oil,  neither is it, jojoba oil, it is Argan Oil.

Argan oil  is extracted from Argan seeds which are products of a tree that grows in Morocco. This oil is said to be very rich in Vitamin E, carotene and many fatty acids.

It has a lot of uses but i would focus on the cosmetic uses because the culinary use of this oil is to aid in weight loss, this can be accomplished by putting a spoonful in drinking water, this would curb your appetite and reduce your urge to eat.

It is good for fighting acne and pimples: It is sad that your dermatologist is waiting for you to schedule an appointment so he or she would prescribe a new drug and use you as an experimental rabbit whereas there are tons of natural remedies that could solve the problem, one of which includes the Argan oil. It contains antioxidants which prevents cell degradation.

It is good for healing burns and scars:The cosmetic use of Argan product for the skin. It helps rebuild cell layers that got damaged by burns.

It reduces stretch marks from pregnancy. This is a health benefit,it is so because Argan oil has Vitamin E which actually does the job of stretch mark reduction.

It is an excellent hair nourishment. It gives hair a brilliant shine and is good for taming the hair and removing frizz. It also repairs hair that has been damaged through certain processing example hair relaxers and hair coloring.

It is good for arthritis:  a health benefit, this occurs when Argan oil reduced the process of degeneration in  the body of individuals going through senescence,

Creme Of Nature has added Argan Oil to its line of products.
